German Feldpost 1939-1945
A little before the second world war on September
1, 1939. The German Feldpost ( mail) was
already organized in view of what was coming. Some units had already
established such as
mail, as example:
Here is a postcard with the cancellation of the unit of "Gendarmerie
of Motorcyrcle" of the "1st
Divisiňn Panzer" with Austrian cancellations celebrating the
annexation of Austria to the Third
Reich - was sent from Vienna to Stuttgart.
Once started the war, "Field mail - (Feldpost"
service) "was activated." Initially these offices
were in Czechoslovakian territory, especially in the Sudetenland and
Bohemia & Moravia
that was already part of Germany but was temporary.
Also there was in the campaign of the Invasion of Poland in 1939 and
1945 when the
withdrawal was evident. Then during the development of the war and
the need for
communication of the troops and their families in cases of emergency,
the offices were placed
in territories of France, Belgium reaching the desert in which the
famous "Afrika Korps" of
Rommel were.
Here I have an example of a "Feldpost"
used by a member of the "Afrika Korps".
